Reverse Drawing in Charcoal
Instructor: Jody Ball
Thursday, February 26
1:00 PM - 3:30 PM
Charcoal is such a versatile medium and can be manipulated in amazing ways! In this class, we are going to use a more expressive and fun way to study the concept of reverse drawing by removing the charcoal in areas that would be highlighted! Vine charcoal is the perfect medium for these projects as it is very forgiving and can provide dreamy-like images. In the process, we will practice drawing skills and discuss the concept of positive and negative space in drawing. To warm you up, we will start with an expressive and free floral rendering, then move on to the chicken drawing. You will be given help with all drawings and will find this fun and challenging at the same time! All supplies are included for your projects. Come and join us!
For adults and teens ages 12+
ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR
“Drawing and painting have been a part of my life as long as I can remember. As a child, my parents enrolled me in art lessons with a prominent hometown artist after my mother declared that all I did was draw and color! I now live in Deltaville, VA, but passionately taught art to students of all ages for many years in a homeschool co-op environment and my studio when I lived in Ohio. My first love is the pastel medium, and my representational paintings usually tend towards a softened, sometimes impressionistic appearance. Nature is my inspiration, and I am possessed by the colors, forms, and textures that are possible in creating two-dimensional art. My paintings grace the walls of many homes across the country, and I currently show my paintings at Gloucester Arts on Main, the RAL Art Center in Kilmarnock, and the Bay School Community Arts Center in Mathews.”
