Intro into Spinning Wool
Instructor: Sara McCourt
Two Day Workshop:
Friday, October 9 & Friday, October 23
5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Class one students will learn to spin on a suspended drop spindle using the “Park and Draft” method. They are taught how to manage the fiber in their hands, how to wind onto the spindle, and basics about twist. We will discuss things like staple length and breeds of sheep. Then they are encouraged to practice. Students will need to practice this method at home and return to the second class with 2 balls of singles. In the second session, we will discuss how to ply yarn on a spindle and yarn management techniques for that process. They will also learn how to make a skein and finish their yarns to set their twist. At the end of this class students will have the knowledge to spin, ply and finish their yarns.
This is a beginner class. No experience is required. All supplies are included.
For adults and teens ages 13+
