12:00 PM - 3:00 PM
Join us for a dynamic figure drawing class that explores expression, perspective, and the power of gesture. Working from a live model, timed exercises will push you to convey the human form quickly and creatively and to expand the creative language you bring to all forms of art. This class will include personalized feedback from the instructor, suggestions and resource lists, and collaborative critique skills with your peers. All levels welcome.
Supplies will be provided, but bring your favorite drawing materials to work with if you have them (large newsprint drawing paper or large sketch pad, preferred drawing tools). For ages 14+
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Directive is the studio practice of artist and designer Jess Goehner, a one-woman operation working in a garage on the Virginia coast. Her media exploration ranges from fine pen and ink drawings, found sculpture, photography, clothing design, fibers, painting, and leatherwork. Since 2013, her work under the name Directive has been focused on functional pieces which has served as an extension of a broader artistic inquiry—an exploration of material, form, and repetition as a language of making.
