Charcoal Drawing Workshop

Instructor: Jody Ball

Saturday, November 22
12:00 PM - 4:00 PM

Come and explore the world of charcoal by drawing this pewter teapot on a toned paper surface with charcoal pencils. We will practice and explore ways to create a three-dimensional metallic look on a flat surface! Using the grid system, Jody will teach you how to make a line drawing of the teapot. After you transfer your teapot to the final drawing paper, you will begin to fill in the areas with soft strokes and layers of charcoal as the teapot takes shape on your paper. Jody will give you tips and advice as you work your way through this project. For beginner to experienced students, some drawing experience is helpful but not necessary. Everything you need is supplied in the workshop. Come and join us!

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR

“Drawing and painting have been a part of my life as long as I can remember. As a child, my parents enrolled me in art lessons with a prominent hometown artist after my mother declared that all I did was draw and color! I now live in Deltaville, VA, but passionately taught art to students of all ages for many years in a homeschool co-op environment and my studio when I lived in Ohio. My first love is the pastel medium, and my representational paintings usually tend towards a softened, sometimes impressionistic appearance. Nature is my inspiration, and I am possessed by the colors, forms, and textures that are possible in creating two-dimensional art. My paintings grace the walls of many homes across the country, and I currently show my paintings at Gloucester Arts on Main, the RAL Art Center in Kilmarnock, and the Bay School Community Arts Center in Mathews.”
